How Much Does Hot Tub Servicing Really Cost?

How much should you expect to pay for a hot tub service?

Owning a hot tub is a wonderful way to relax, but keeping it in good working order requires more than occasionally checking the water and rinsing the filters.

Over time, debris, body oils, scale and other deposits can build up in the plumbing and components. Pumps, heaters, seals and electrical equipment also need attention, particularly as a hot tub gets older.

Professional servicing helps identify developing problems, maintain water quality and keep your hot tub operating as efficiently as possible.

So what should you expect to pay?

Understanding hot tub servicing prices

Not all hot tub services are the same. Some are primarily cleaning visits, while others include a more thorough inspection of the equipment and plumbing.

At Spa Simple, our current advertised services include:

ServiceAdvertised price
Hot Tub Full Service & Deep Clean£295
Breakdown / Repair Call-out£95
Hot Tub Inspection£140
Hot Tub Open / Close Service£160
Swim Spa Full Service & Deep Clean£480
Swim Spa Open / Close Service£295

Prices shown are for our advertised services and may vary depending on the hot tub, its condition and the work required. Any additional repairs, replacement parts or specialist work will be discussed separately.

For breakdown and repair visits, the £95 call-out covers the first 60 minutes. Additional labour is charged at £60 per additional hour or part thereof, rounded up to the next full hour. Any applicable parts or further work should be explained before proceeding.

The £480 Swim Spa Full Service & Deep Clean is carried out over two visits.

What happens during a full hot tub service?

A comprehensive service goes beyond wiping down the shell.

Depending on the hot tub's condition and the agreed service specification, work may include:

  • Checking the hot tub's general condition and accessible equipment.
  • Inspecting pumps, heaters, pipework and visible connections for signs of problems.
  • Cleaning the shell and accessible surfaces.
  • Cleaning or assessing the filters.
  • Flushing the plumbing system to help remove accumulated deposits.
  • Draining and refilling the hot tub where included in the service.
  • Checking the water balance and advising on ongoing care.
  • Identifying worn components, leaks or potential faults.

Some maintenance tasks depend on the make, model, installation and access available. Any additional repairs should be quoted separately.

Why is professional servicing worthwhile?

A hot tub can appear to be working normally while developing problems behind the cabinet.

A small leak may gradually damage insulation or surrounding equipment. A restricted filter can affect water flow. A worn pump seal may eventually turn into a more expensive repair.

Regular inspections cannot prevent every breakdown, but they can help identify warning signs before they become serious.

Professional servicing is also an opportunity to ask questions about water care, operating settings and the condition of your cover.

How often should a hot tub be serviced?

For many domestic hot tubs, an annual professional service is a sensible starting point.

However, the right schedule depends on usage, water conditions, the manufacturer's recommendations and the age of the equipment.

A frequently used hot tub, a holiday-let installation or a spa with a history of faults may need more frequent checks.

Routine owner maintenance remains essential between visits. That includes testing and treating the water, cleaning filters and following the manufacturer's instructions.

Is a service the same as a repair?

No.

A service focuses on maintenance, cleaning and checking the hot tub's condition. A repair visit investigates a particular fault, such as a heating problem, water leak, circulation issue or electrical error.

If your hot tub has stopped working, is displaying a fault code or is losing water, explain the symptoms when contacting us. That helps us recommend the appropriate visit.

Can you spread the cost of maintenance?

Spa Simple also offers service plans designed to help customers arrange ongoing maintenance.

Plan availability, benefits and payment arrangements should always be checked against the current service-plan information. Older promotional discounts or savings claims may no longer apply.
